Class Update--August 5, 2007

Friends:

Good evening, all! Well, summer has officially arrived. I think I lost three pounds this afternoon washing Dana’s car—not that losing three pounds would be a bad thing!

Us Nulls brought the donuts this morning. Way to go, us! Next week, Ben and Teresa Sullivan are signed up. Thanks, Sullivans!

I have updated our sign-up sheet for the Cookout at the Buhner home. Click below for more information. If you see something that you would like to sign up to bring, just let me know! It looks as though we will have a big turnout, despite my threats to wear the Speedo.

Next, I want to thank everyone for signing up to take meals to the Livelys. This is a great way to bless them! I know Sean and Cece appreciate it very much.

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Our class is full of busy folks this week, so let’s go ahead and get to our prayers and praises:

Robbie gets back tonight! Please pray for his safe return home. We’ll be glad to see you, Robbie!

We have lots of travelers this weekend and this upcoming week:

Pray for the Buhners as they are traveling (but I can’t remember where!).

The Hookhams are headed to Iowa to visit Jeff’s parents.

Kayla Jacque is headed to Iowa to the famous Iowa State Fair.

The Nicholsons are out of town this weekend at a wedding.

Please pray for safe travel for all of these folks. And I’m sure there are other travelers that I don’t know about!

Salley Taylor has asked us to pray for the Wren family. Mallory Wren is the five year old girl who died in a four-wheeler accident this week. Of course, this is a terribly tragic and difficult time for them. Please pray for comfort and strength for the family. Pray, especially, for Mallory’s little brother.

Vince Erickson has asked us to pray for some of his friends from high school. He had a reunion recently, and there are still some problems that many of his friends are dealing with. Pray for unification and friendship-building between now and the next reunion event.

The VanZees will be married 13 years tomorrow! Please pray for Jill as she tries to survive another 13 years with Brian. HA! Seriously, Congratulations VanZees! Ask God to be with Brian and Jill on their big day.

Jill also has asked us to pray for one of her friends, Jeanie Horn. Jeanie’s husband is dealing with cancer. Pray for healing for him.

The Bartram baby should arrive any day! Please pray for Brian, Pam, and their new little baby as the big day arrives.

We need to continue to pray for the Livelys. Pray for strength for Sean and Cece and for stability for Callie and Camry (sp.?). Please ask God to be with these girls!

Elizabeth Nemec has asked that we continue to pray for the Saxon family. Yes, we certainly need to keep them in our prayers. Of course, they are missing their son Paul very much. Please ask God to continue to be with the Saxons each and every day.

As I think most of you know, Mark Welshimer has taken a position as an Associate Pastor at First Methodist—Houston. Thank God for Mark’s terrific work at our church! Please ask God to be with the Welshimers as they move. Also, please pray for wisdom, guidance, and grace as our church looks for a new youth pastor. Pray that we will find a great person for this critically important position!

Jen Burney has asked us to pray for one of her friends, Andrea Coffee (sp.?). Andrea is in the hospital right now. She also has two young kids at home. Please pray for recovery for Andrea. Pray, also, for these two little girls while their mommy is trying to recover.

Brooke Tooley is busy preparing her first year as a Kindergarten teacher at Rapoport Academy! Please ask God to be with Brooke as she prepares for these important first few weeks of school. You will do great, Brooke! We’re praying for you!

Zach May will begin a new day care tomorrow. Please pray that the transition will go smoothly for little Zach.

Last but not least, I have one prayer and one praise for my lovely wife. Dana will go in tomorrow to have another mole removed. Everything should be fine, but please pray for good news for Dana. On the praise front, Dana recently accepted a position as Department Chair for the Career and Technical Education program at Midway ISD. She will continue to teach just as she has done for the past 6 years at Midway, but this new position will add a few responsibilities that will allow her to expand the work of the CTE department. I am quite proud of Ms. Dana!

----------------

I believe that covers everything for this Sunday. Thanks again to all of you for signing up to bring food to the Cookout and to take meals to the Livelys. I am quite proud of our efforts. And I think we will have a great time at the cookout!

Dana and I look forward to seeing all of you again next Sunday morning.

God bless,

Wes and Dana
