Lots of News and Prayers--Happy 4th!

Friends:

Good evening, all! I hope that everyone has had a good weekend, and maybe even seen some rain. We need to begin by thanking Matt and Beth R. for bringing our snacks this morning. We appreciate you, Matt and Beth! Greg and Courtney Hudson signed up for next Sunday, but, what do you know, we don't have class next week because of July 4th Sunday! That means that we'll put the Hudsons at the bottom of the list. Russ and Kayla Jacque are signed up for July 13th. Thanks, Jacques!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Now let's go ahead and get to our prayers and praises:

Way to go Gracyn and Garrett Goolsby! Following a great week of VBS, both of them made a decision to dedicate their lives to Christ. They will be baptized later this summer. Great news, Goolsbys!

Also on the Goolsby front, they are still working to sell their home. Please pray that things will work out soon.

Let's also continue to pray for the Schneiders. Their home remains on the market as well. We're praying for just the right people, Cathy and Trey!

We need to continue to pray for Amy and Brian Nicholson. For those of you who don't recall, Amy is due on election day in November. Let's continue to pray for health for Amy and the baby-on-the-way.

On the Hookham front, we need to pray for them as they travel to Iowa this week. Pray for safe travel and a good visit with family for the Hookhams.

We also need to continue our prayers for Bernie's brother, the one who was diagnosed with West Nile virus last week. His fever has gone down and he appears to be doing a bit better. Please pray for continued better health for Eric.

Jennifer May's dad, Ronnie, is in town for two weeks. Please pray for a great visit for Ronnie and Lewis (a youngster who is here visiting with him). Pray for a great visit for the Mays and for safe travel for Ronnie when he returns home.

We need to pray for Steve May's brother. He had two skin biopsies done last week, and two of them turned out to be malignant. He will have additional surgery on this Thursday. Please pray for successful surgery and for nothing but positive news.

Let's also continue our prayers for Steve's dad. His medicines seem to be working okay right now, but please continue your prayers.

Sean Goolsby will be doing lots of traveling during the next few weeks. Pray for safe travel for him. If you need something while Sean is away, Stefany, be sure to call us!

GREAT NEWS FOR THE ERICKSONS!
I think most if not all of you know how long the Ericksons have been waiting for news about their adoption process through China. Well, the great news is that they have been matched with a 17 month old little girl. Woohoo! Please continue to pray that God will be with Mary and Vince during this long and trying process. It looks as though there is a possibility that the Ericksons will get to travel to China to get their little girl sometime not too long after the Olympics (which I think means September or October, but see Vince for details; something tells me he'll be keeping up with the Olympics). This means that Mary isn't quite having labor pains just yet, but she is moving into her third trimester! We're praying for you guys, Vince and Mary!

Last but not least, I want to say a big thank you on behalf of our class to everyone for helping with a terrific week of VBS. What a great week! Did the kids look great up there this morning or what?! I was so proud of our church and our little kids this morning as I was watching them sing. Way to go, everyone!

----------

Finally, in two weeks when we meet again as a class, we will continue with our new book, The New Christians, by Tony Jones. I want to encourage everyone to pick up a copy at Amazon.com. I think you'll enjoy it! We will finish up Chapter 2 on July 13th (our next class).

Have a great week, everyone.

Couple More Prayers

Please pray for Shawn Buhner's mom and for Shawn and Shelley.

---------

Message from Shelley Buhner:

Hi Wes,

Please include Shawn's mom in your prayers. She fell last Sunday at her Assisted Living place and has been in the hospital. They discovered she had some sort of staph infection and will not let her back into Assisted Living so she is in a nursing home type place. We have made the decision that we are moving her no matter what the hurdle is. This has been so stressful to Shawn and I but think it is the best decision.

Shelley

We also need to remember that Steve May is traveling this week.

Sunday News, Prayers, and a Busy Week of VBS!

Friends:

Good evening, everyone! I hope you've had a great weekend. With VBS, this is of course a busy week for our church. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help with this very important week!

We also need to thank the Hookhams for bringing us some home made cinnamon rolls for class this morning. Great stuff, Hookhams! For those of you who weren't there, you missed out. Next week, Matt and Beth Ramsdell are in charge. Thanks for signing up, Ramsdells. Don't feel pressure from the Hookhams. Donuts will be terrific!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's get to our prayers and praises. I suspect that many of you have heard about Jerry Wilson. He sings in our praise team. Jerry was hit by a car earlier this week. I believe he's currently in ICU at one of the hospitals here in town. Jerry badly needs our prayers. Please pray for his strength and for a complete recovery.

Our youngest, Corbin, goes in for hand surgery this Wednesday. This is a relatively minor surgery to repair something called "trigger thumb". Corbin injured his thumb a few weeks ago when he fell. Please pray for a successful surgery and a full recovery. The poor little guy will be in a cast for ten days, including the 4th of July!

We need to pray for the Goolsbys and the Schneiders. Both of them are still working to sell their homes. Pray that things will work out for them soon.

I'd like to say a praise for a great trip for us Nulls last week. We enjoyed some time away!

We need to pray for Bernie Hookham's brother, Eric. He recently was diagnosed with West Nile virus. Please pray for strength and rest for Eric. Pray that he will have a complete and total recovery very soon.

I know that many people from our class our traveling this weekend, but the ones I know about for sure are the Ericksons, the Nicholsons, and Trey Schneider. Please pray for safe travel for all of these folks.

The Nemecs also will be leaving this week for a trip to Florida. See the note below from Elizabeth. Pray for better health for Jillian and for safe travel for the Nemecs.

------------

FROM ELIZABETH NEMEC:

Hey, Wes, just a quick prayer request. We are headed for a week in Clearwater, FL on vacation tomorrow, and we have sickness again. Jillian just came down with a cold today (she just got over something she had last weekend). I'm concerned about her discomfort, because we are flying. Please pray for us that this doesn't get worse or spread. Thank you!

Blessings,
Elizabeth & David Nemec

New Book: The New Christians by Tony Jones

We started a new book this morning. I've enjoyed it quite a lot and hope that others will as well. The title is The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier. Jones talks at length about the future of the Christian faith and the changes that have been taking place due to information technology, cultural shifts, and, in short, the "postmodern" world that is upon us. You can buy the book for about $10 through Amazon.com. I'll be placing an order this week, so, if you'd like for me to order a copy for you, let me know.

I think that's all for now, folks. I hope that all of you have a great week. See you next Sunday!

God bless,

Wes and Dana

We're Back!, New Book for Tomorrow

Friends:

Good evening, all! Us Nulls are back from a little vacation time. We're looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning.

Thanks again to Steve May for teaching the class the last few weeks. We will begin with a new book tomorrow. I found it a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed it. The title is The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier by Tony Jones. Be sure to take a look at the book on Amazon.

See you in the morning!

Prayer Request from Jennifer May

This is a heart-breaking story. Thank you for praying for this little boy.

Wes

----
Please pray for a little boy in our PPCD program. His name is Reese and he is 3 years old. He has shaken baby syndrome--limited language, no vision, and limited mobility. He had two shunts in his head (not sure why). He went to Cooks in Ft. Worth for a routine surgery to remove the shunts. While removing the 2nd shunt he caught on fire. His head, face, neck and lungs are burnt. He is currently in a drug induced coma for the pain and so they can explore the extent of the damages to his lungs and brain. I do not know how or why he caught on fire. He is a precious little boy and you would fall in love with him the first time you met him! Please pray for his healing.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Mission Sunday Update and Other Matters

Friends:

Good evening! Hope everyone enjoyed this hot, windy, and muggy day. I broke a 12-year old, senior citizen mower, so I enjoyed getting to purchase a new one. Nothing runs like a Deere, right?

We welcomed John-Mark and Susan Brabon into our class this morning. They have been missionaries in Mexico City for many years. We also enjoyed a great orchestra during the 9:30 service. If you couldn't make it today, you missed some beautiful music!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

I only know of a few prayers and praises for this week. First off, let's pray for Ben and Teresa Sullivan as they settle into their new home. Pray that God will be with the Sullivans as they enjoy their beautiful new place. Congratulations, Ben and Teresa! We are very proud for you guys. When I left their new place yesterday afternoon, the Sullivans only had a few items left at their old place. I know that Vince E. did a bit of hauling yesterday, as did Mary E. In fact, now that I think about it, Mary told me this morning that the Sullivans moved the last of their stuff last night. Welcome home, Ben and Teresa!

----------

On a very different note, as you can see from Jenny's message, we need to pray for Matt and his family. Matt, we will certainly be praying for you guys

MESSAGE FROM JENNY LASEUR

Wes:

Can you please add Matt's family to the class prayer list? His grandfather passed away Thursday night. He had fallen and broken his hip at the begining of the week and went in for surgery but never woke up afterwards. The services will be here in Waco tomorrow morning. His name was Elmo Mimms.

Thanks,

Jenny

----------

Us Nulls will be traveling to New Mexico next weekend to see family. We're typically out of town only 1 or 2 Sundays during the year, and next Sunday happens to be one of them. We'll appreciate your prayers for our safe travel. Steve May will be teaching the class, following up with our continued our reading of "Lord Save Us From Your Followers". Thanks, Steve! The Mays, in fact, will be pulling double duty by bringing our snacks next week as well. Steve, the fridge is packed with beverages, so all is well on that front.

Last but not least, thanks to Stefany Goolsby for bringing our goodies this morning. We appreciate it, Stefany.

Dana and I hope that all of you have a great week. We'll see you again on Sunday, June 22nd!

Ben & Teresa are Moving!, Anyone Free Tomorrow?

Friends:

Good evening, all. Hope you've had a good week. I got a phone call this afternoon from Ben Sullivan. The Sullivans will be moving into their new home all day tomorrow. If anyone is free and can help Ben move, please give him or Teresa a call at the numbers below. I know they will appreciate any help they can get. Ben is using a flat bed tralier and will be making trips back and forth all day tomorrow.

If anyone cares to see my bulging biceps in action (you'll be impressed, I promise), I'll be helping tomorrow afternoon beginning about 1:30 or 2:00. To find Ben, the best plan is to call first.

Ben cell phone: 744-1256
Teresa cell phone: 722-6945

This Week's News, Prayers, and Related Stuff

Good evening, all! Hope everyone's had a good weekend. Thanks once again to Steve May for leading us through a great discussion of our class book, Lord Save Us from Your Followers. For those of you who haven't been with us lately, you're missing a fascinating book!

Thanks also to Vince and Mary Erickson for bringing our donuts this morning. Thanks, Ericksons! (Mary, you should be proud of Vince. He remembered without any trouble at all!). Next week, the Goolsbys are in charge of snacks. Thanks, Sean and Stefany!

Let's get to our prayers and praises:

Lots of our ladies were out of town this weekend scrapbooking somewhere near Dallas. I think everyone is home by now, but let's pray for safe travel and a good conclusion to their weekend nonetheless. All of our single Dads this weekend did a heroic job getting the youngsters to church on-time, even early!

Amy Nicholson has been sick with the stomach flu. It doesn't appear that this sickness has anything to do with the new Nicholson-baby-on-the way. Let's be sure to pray for better health and better days for Amy.

Vince E. has asked that we pray for his brother as he makes a major career charge in Oklahoma. His name is Mahlon (pronounced Maylon). Please pray that everything will go smoothly for Mahlon during this time of transition.

We also need to pray for Vince's parents. Mahlon will be living with them for a few weeks while he makes this transition. Pray for health and strength for Vince's parents.

Kayla Jacque has asked us to pray for her cousin's family. Kayla's cousin, Mary, passed away recently. Please pray for everyone in Kayla's family who is grieving. We also need to pray for Mary's two daughters. Pray for God's strength and comfort for these young girls during this difficult time.

Shelley Buhner has asked that we pray for her friend Mike Hesser as he makes a transition with this job. Pray that everything will work out well for Mike.

Also on the Buhner front, Shawn brought good news this morning about her mom. She is now living in an assisted living facility, and things seem to be going just fine. Please continue to pray that everything will go well for Shawn's mom. Pray, also, for Shawn's dad as he makes decisions about moving as well.

Last but not least, let's say a praise for all of our little kindergarteners who are having kindergarten graduation these days. Praise God for these little ones!

-----------

I think that's all for this evening, folks. Next week, we will be welcoming John Mark Brabon into our class. I suspectthat most of you know that this week is Missions Week. Let's look forward to hearing about John Mark's missionary experiences next week.

Have a great week, everyone!

See you next Sunday,

Wes and Dana
