Dear Friends:

Good morning, everyone. Hope you've had a great week. I'm writing with three reminders. First of all, don't forget that we will have lunch together as a class this Sunday at Fuddrucker's. We will dismiss class early and head over there about 11:15. I hope that everyone can join us this Sunday!

Our Weekly News and Prayers

Friends:

Good evening! I took some great pictures this afternoon at the Pumpkin Patch. I'll upload them as soon as I have a chance.

For those of you who weren't there this morning, today was an all out smash hit when it comes to jokes. People were literally rolling on the floor. I'm not kidding. I was hilarious! Just ask someone! : )

Let's start off today by saying a big thank you to Ashlee and David McCrary. Yep, that's right. They came to visit today, and they even brought snacks! Thanks, McCrarys. They are doing great in Houston, even though they recently spent 2 weeks without electricity. David likes his new job, and Rylie just turned 1! It was great to see you guys, David and Ashlee!

DON'T FORGET LUNCH NEXT WEEK!
Next Sunday, we will plan to break up a few minutes early to go eat lunch at Fuddrucker's. I hope that all of you can join us!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's get to our prayers and praises. We have lots happening.

First off, let's continue our prayers for Amy and Mallory Nicholson (and Brian, if you have time to squeeze him into your prayer). Rumor has it that Amy and Mallory went home yesterday. Please pray for strength and healing for Amy and for healthy first days and weeks for Mallory. We're praying for you, Amy!

Next, let's praise God for the great decision that Ben and Nicki made this morning! They joined our church, and Nicki was baptized. We are so pleased to have you guys, Ben and Nicki! We look forward to many great weeks and months together.

Teresa Sullivan has asked that we pray for her Dad and Ben. They are driving to North Carolina to help Teresa's brother move to Waco. Please pray for their safe travel and for Teresa's brother as he begins his life here in Waco.

Nicki would like for us to continue our prayers for her friend, Jessica. Nicki hasn't seen her for several days and is a bit concerned.

Also on the Sanchez front, Severus will be baptized on November 30th. Please pray that God will be with Ben and Nicki on this important day!

We need to pray for our expectant mommies, Elizabeth Nemec and Shannon Smith. Please pray for health for the babies and for easy days for these mommies.

Steve May has asked that we pray for him as he looks for a different job. Pray that God will lead Steve to a position that will make use of his many talents.

Nicki has a friend, Samantha Holly, who will be having a baby soon, through a c-section. Please pray for Samantha and the baby.

I would like for everyone to continue their prayers for my friend Michael and his wife Jennifer. She is the one who was diagnosed with cancer about a week and a half ago. You can read their story at this link. Thank you for your prayers for strength and grace for the Allen family:

http://mjallenboys.blogspot.com/

Last but not least, Bernie Hookham's sister, Margie, is due to have her baby within the next couple of weeks. Let's pray for a smooth delivery and a healthy baby.

--------------

I think that takes care of matters for this week. Next Sunday, we will continue our Hybels Bible Study by looking at a lesson on "self-sacrifice". If you wish to read ahead, we will be looking specifically at Mark 10:35-45.

Have a great week, everyone! See you next Sunday.

Wes and Dana

P.S.--From Christina Gilliam:

-----

Wes,

I know I was out of town this Sunday, but I was wondering if you could add these prayers to the list:

1. My friend/significant other is in New York so safe travels with him (lucky guy!).
2. I start midterms/finals in about a week
3. I still haven't mended my fight with my friend.
4. Prayers for guidance and a clear path to what I want to do.

That'll do it for now.

In Him.

Lots of Prayers and News (Including Another Baby Announcement!)

Friends:

Good evening, all! Hope you've had a great weekend. Things have been quite busy at the Null home, but the weekend has been great (other than the fact that a recent flu shot has made me feel less than healthy; don't believe the people who say flu shots don't make you sick).

PUMPKIN PATCH NEXT WEEK

Don't forget that Pumpkin Patch begins next Sunday at 4:00. Our class will be working the ping-pong drop game. This event is always great fun, so we look forward to seeing you there!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

We have lots of prayers and other stuff to get to this week. First of all, Amy Nicholson is scheduled to have her baby Wednesday morning at 7:30. The word on the street, however, is that she may not make it to Wednesday. Please pray for a healthy baby and a smooth delivery for Amy. Also on the Nicholson front, both Brian and Reese have been sick this weekend. Is that bad timing for sicknesses or what?! Be sure to pray for a good week for the Nicholson family. They need all the help we can give them!

Also on the baby front, Rod and Shannon Smith announced this morning that they will be having another baby! Woohoo! Of course, this is very exciting news. This also means that our class will get down the road 9 more months in our unbroken string of pregnancies. This will push us past the 7 year mark! Way to go, Rod and Shannon! The special powder on the donut still seems to be working. Please pray for health for Shannon and the baby.

Also on the baby front, please continue your prayers for the Nemecs. Pray for health for the Nemec baby-on-the-way and for strength for Elizabeth.

On a bit less positive note, I would like for everyone to pray for my friend Michael Allen and his wife Jennifer. Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer this past weekend. She's facing additional surgeries and perhaps chemotherapy. Please pray for strength, health, and peace for Jennifer and the entire Allen family.

I also would like everyone to continue to pray for the Moore family Andrew Moore had his hand surgery last Thursday. The surgery went according to plan, but they did have to remove three fingers from his left hand. Scott Moore, Andrew's dad, tells me that Andrew has been very courageous through all of this. Please pray for a complete and speedy recovery for Andrew. Pray for strength and peace for the entire Moore family as well.

Let's continue to pray for the Coltrain family. Leslie and Khalil are still trying to sell their house. Please pray that a buyer will come along soon so that the Coltrains can spend more time together.

Also on the home-selling note, Jeff and Jennifer Fadal are still trying to sell their home. The good news is that they love their new home, but they also need to sell the old one. Pray that a buyer will come along so that the Fadals can move on to completely enjoying their new home.

Brian VanZee's parents will be traveling this week to visit. Please pray for their safe travel.

Jennifer Fadal has asked that we pray for her friend, Amy. She suffered an aneurysm recently and, as a result, is having a difficult time with her speech. Pray for health and a strong recovery for Amy.

Let's continue our prayers for the Erickson family. So far, Malia is adjusting very well, but let's continue to pray as Malia adjusts to her new life in our country.

Christina G. has three prayers that she would like for us to pray. A friend of her parents, Mr. Nutto, passed away last week. Please pray for the Nutto family and Christina's parents during this time of mourning. Many members of Christina's family also will be traveling this week. Pray for their safe travel. Finally, Christina has asked that we pray for a rocky relationship that she has been having with one of her friends. Pray that Christina and her friend will get things smoothed out soon.

Brian VanZee has asked that we pray for the Waller family. Mr. Waller, a game warden, passed away this week. He was only 45 and had two children at home. Please pray for the Waller family during this terribly difficult time.

Teresa Sullivan would like for us to pray for the family of one of the custodians at her school. The mother in the family passed away this past week in a tragic car accident. From what Teresa can tell, the husband isn't dealing with this terrible news very well. Please pray for comfort for the entire family.

Also from Teresa, she will be in Dallas for 3 days this week at a conference. Pray for her safe travel. Pray, also, for Teresa's mother-in-law, who will be looking after the kids.

Nicki Sanchez would like for us to pray for her friend, Jessica. She has been working two jobs and only getting 3 hours of sleep per night. She is an only mom who has 3 kids at home. In addition, Jessica has recently been told that she must move out of her apartment, despite the fact that she has made all of her monthly rent payments on time. It turns out her landlord has foreclosed on the apartment complex. Please pray for strength for Jessica as she deals with these very difficult problems. Pray that Jessica and her kids will have better days very soon. How's that for a reminder for some of us to be thankful for what we have?!

-----------

I think that takes care of our prayers and praises for today. As you can see, lots of people are dealing with lots of heavy issues and problems. Thank you for your prayers for all of these fine people.

COMPASSION NEXT WEEK

Next week, we will continue our study of character with a lesson on "Compassion". If you'd like to read ahead, take a look at Luke 10:25-37.

EARLY VOTING STARTS TOMORROW!

On a rather different note, early voting for this very important election cycle begins in Texas tomorrow morning! I hope that all of you will be sure to cast a ballot. Our country desperately needs strong, wise leadership that will steer us in the right direction. Of course, we have heard a great deal about the presidential race, but let's not forget that there are many important decisions to make throughout the ballot. Let's be sure to inform ourselves and make the best decisions that we possibly can. As Bob Schieffer said at the end of the presidential debate this past week: Now go out and vote, it'll make you feel big and strong!

Have a great week, everyone. Dana and I look forward to seeing you next Sunday morning.

Reschedule Class Lunch to Nov. 2nd

Friends:

Good evening, everyone. Well, I’ve just realized that there is a Dallas Cowboys game this Sunday at Noon. Since we have so many dedicated Cowboys fans, I think the best plan is for us to reschedule our class lunch. We’ll plan to do it on Sunday, November 2nd, instead. The Cowboys play at 3:15 that day. Thanks for switching the date on your calendars!

See you Sunday,

Wes

This Week's News, Prayers, and Lunch Next Sunday!

Friends:

Good afternoon! Well, here I am again typing this message during the Cowboys game. They better turn things around again this week!

LUNCH NEXT SUNDAY!!

I want to remind everyone that we will plan to go eat as a class next Sunday. We decided this morning to go to Fuddrucker's. We've had good luck there. We'll plan to dismiss class about 11:15 or 11:20. We need to be sure and beat the Baptists. : ) I hope all of you will plan to join us for some fellowship time next Sunday!

-----------

Next, I want to say a big thank you to Beth and Matt Ramsdell for bringing our snacks this morning. Kolaches included! Thanks, Ramsdells! Next week, Brian and Jill VanZee are signed up, but, since we're headed to lunch, we won't need snacks. Brian and Jill, we'll get you guys signed up for another round of donuts down the road!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Next, let's get to our prayers and praises. We need to continue our prayers for the Nicholsons and the Schneiders, our expectant families. Please pray for healthy babies and speedy recoveries for these mommies.

Brian and Jill VanZee have been doing lots of traveling lately, and their travels continue this week. Brian leaves town today, and Jill leaves on Tuesday. Jill's parents also will be returning home on Tuesday. Pray for safe travel for everyone.

I would like for everyone to continue to pray for Andrew Moore, the 9 year old boy who is struggling with cancer in his hand. His surgery has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 16th. Please pray for a successful surgery, a complete recovery, and cancer free days.

Christina Gilliam has an important interview on Tuesday. Please pray that everything will go well.

Teresa Sullivan would like for us to pray for her school. They've been going through some difficult days. Please pray for smoother days at school for Teresa.

-------------

That takes care of matters for this Sunday. For next week's lesson, we will continue our study of character by focusing on the subject of "endurance". If you want to read ahead, our lesson will be based on Jeremiah 29:1-14. We'll do as much as we can before we dismiss for lunch.

Have a great week, everyone! We look forward to seeing you next Sunday.

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's go ahead with our prayers and praises for this Sunday.

I would like for everyone to pray for Andrew Moore and the Moore family. Andrew was recently diagnosed with cancer in his hand. He goes in for surgery on Friday. Please pray for a successful surgery and a quick recovery for Andrew. Pray, also, that the cancer will be gone completely.

Let's keep praying for our expectant mommies, Amy Nicholson and Elizabeth Nemec. Amy is due in just about three weeks! Pray for healthy babies, successful deliveries, and quick recoveries for these two ladies.

A friend of us and the Hookhams, Marissa Hunt, will be trying out for the Baylor cheer squad this week. Please pray that everything will go well for Marissa during her stressful week.

Christina G. brought a few praises and prayers today. She has a praise that school is going well for her and that she is finally out of credit card debt! Christina also would like for us to pray for her brother and one of her friends. Both of them are traveling this week. Pray for successful trips and good news while away.

I'm headed to Chicago for a conference this week. Please pray for a safe trip and a successful conference.

-----------

I believe that takes care of our prayers and praises. Next week in class, we'll continue with our study of Character with a lesson on "Vision". If you want to read ahead, take a look at Matthew 19:16-30.

I think that's all for now. Have a great week, everyone. Be sure to take your umbrella tomorrow. Rain is on the way!

See you next Sunday. I'll be the guy celebrating the big Longhorn victory.
