Prayers, Beautiful Weather, and Dead Brackets

Friends:

Good evening! Well, I hope your bracket's doing better than mine. The Pittsburgh loss last night means that the time has come for me to toss my bracket in the trash. My only consolation is that the Kansas loss did the same thing to Dana's! Oh well, there's always March Madness 2010 (by the way, get your tickets for the Women's NCAA tournament in San Antonio now! I have a feeling the Lady Bears will be there!).

I hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful afternoon of weather. If we prayed real hard, do you think God would bless us with this kind of weather year-round?! I think it's worth a shot!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's go ahead and jump to our prayers and praises.

We need to keep up our prayers for Steve May. He has five more days left in New Jersey. Pray for a good five days and a safe trip home for Steve.

Christina G. has a classmate that had an unplanned pregnancy and consequently needs our prayers. Please pray for comfort and good decision-making for Christina's friend.

Also from Christina, she has another classmate named Shelly who needs our prayers. Shelly's 19-year old daughter has been having lots of difficulties lately. Please pray for better weeks for Shelly and her daughter.

Mary E. would like for us to pray for her grandmother. She has been battling cancer for some time now. Her name is Ella, and she is 91 years old. Pray for comfort and healing for Ella.

We need to keep up our prayers for Lael, Vince's sister. It turns out that her insurance company has decided that her cataracts aren't bad enough to cover the surgery. This is good news in that she won't be getting the surgery now, but it's bad news because she will need it at some point. Pray that things will work out so that Lael will get the treatment she needs.

Teresa has asked that we keep up our prayers for Ben. Things are quite dangerous on his rig right now, due to the type of drilling that they are doing. Pray for safety and comfort for Ben, and for Teresa and the boys while Ben is out of town.

Ben S. brought a praise today that he starts a new job on April 6th. This will be a much better situation for him. There's also good news on the Ben/Nicki front in that Ben is now back in the home full-time. Praise God for the great news, Ben and Nicki!

Nicki also brought a praise that her mom's neck surgery was successful. Pray that her recovery will continue to go well.

Bernie's parents will be returning home this week to Iowa. Pray for their safe travel. Rumor has it that Jeff has decided to go back to Iowa with them to enjoy a bit of quality time with the in-laws, so pray for Jeff as he begins his new life as part-time ferret farmer.

Jennifer May would like for us to pray for Mr. Jaret. He's been having some trouble with some anxiety issues, especially since Steve has been out of town. Pray that Jaret will have a good week at school and that Steve and Jennifer will find what helps Jaret to channel all of his perfectionist energy in the right direction. I feel your pain, Jaret!

Finally, I'm headed off to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga this week for a lecture. Should be a good trip. I've never been to Tennessee before. Please pray for a safe, successful trip. Pray, also, for Dana and the youngsters while I'm gone.

---------

I think that takes care of matters for today. Have a great week, everyone. Believe it or not, we'll be celebrating Easter very soon. Put the April 11th Easter Egg Hunt on your calendar now!

See you next Sunday.

God bless,

Wes and Dana

Busy Day for News and Prayers . . . . Go Bears!

Friends:

Good evening, all! Well, the Null lawn is now back completely in order--fully trimmed, cut, and fertilized. Let the growing season begin!

Thanks to Rod and Shannon Smith for bringing our donuts this morning! Next week, us Nulls are in charge. Look out Bush's Chicken! They do have breakfast, right?!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's go ahead and get to our prayers and praises. We have lots to get to this week.

First off, we need to say a praise for the Buhner family. Everyone is healthy! The flu is gone for good. Let's pray for healthier days for all of us now that spring has arrived. Let's also say a great praise for an excellent month in Fish Dish for the Buhners. Way to go Shawn and Shelley! Next week, Ms. Null is in charge.

Steve May left this morning for about two weeks in New Jersey for his new job. Please pray for safe travel for Steve and sanity for Jennifer while she's here with the May fellas.

Bernie Hookham's parents are traveling this week to visit them. Pray for safe travel for them and an enjoyable time with the Hookham family (especially Jeff).

Vince E. would like for us to pray for his two sisters. Both of them will be having surgery, for different reasons, within the next few weeks. Pray for successful surgeries and complete, speedy recoveries.

Jeff Fadal's parents are off to Jerusalem and related lands this week. Pray for a safe, enjoyable, and rewarding trip for them.

Jennifer May would like for us to pray for a new little boy in her classroom. His mother gave birth to a still-born baby this past week. Please pray for comfort for the entire family during this difficult time of mourning and sadness.

Christina G. brought a praise today that she has received some funding to help with her trip to Washington, D.C. She continues to need our prayers, however, as she looks for additional support.

Jennifer Fadal has asked that we pray for one of her patients at the dentist office. Her daughter recently ran away, but was found. Pray for healing, understanding, and better days for the entire family as they put things back together.

Teresa Sullivan would like for us to pray for her Mother. She was laid off this week and has been going through other difficulties as well. Pray for understanding and better weeks for Teresa's parents.

Also for the Sullivans, we need to pray for Ben. He heads back to the oil patch this week for work. Pray for safety for Ben. Pray, also, that everything will be okay with his job.

Several of us would like to say a praise for the great confirmation class that we have going through. Let's keep up the prayers that the rest of the confirmation experiences will go smoothly and successfully!

We need to continue praying for Shannon Smith. She now has less than three months left in the pregnancy. Pray for easy days and strength for the baby.

We also need to keep praying for Elizabeth Nemec and little Bryce. I believe that everything is going well for them. Thanks for keeping up the prayers.

Last but certainly not least, let's pray for our good friend Vince E. He is looking for new job possibilities, so please pass along anything that comes along. Pray that God will bring strength, wisdom, patience, guidance, and understanding as Vince and Mary look for new possibilities. We're praying for you, Vince and Mary!

--------

As you can see, we have lots going on these days. Lots of people need our prayers and support. Thanks for remembering all of these people throughout the week.

Have a great week, everyone. We look forward to seeing you next Sunday morning.

God bless,

Wes and Dana

"The Sun'll Come Out . . . .", and Other News and Prayers!

Friends:

Good evening, all! How about some beautiful weather this afternoon?! Us Nulls even managed to pull a few weeds in the backyard today. Let springtime return!

Let's thank Ben and Nicki Sanchez for bringing our donuts this morning. They even managed to pick up a few St. Patrick's Day green specials. Thanks, Ben and Nicki! Next week, Rod and Shannon Smith are in charge. We appreciate it, Smiths!

NEMEC UPDATE

Here's a reminder for those who may be interested in taking a meal to the Nemecs. We took them some dinner this evening, and everyone seems to be doing great. Elizabeth looks even better in person than she does in that photo! And would you believe that Dana whipped up some baked spaghetti instead of Bush's Chicken?! Look out! Bush's Chicken may go out of business given this change in the Null household. Let's continue to pray for Elizabeth and young Bryce during these first weeks of Bryce's life.

Here's the scoop on how to sign up if you would like:

-----

From Amy:

For those of you who would like to take a meal to the Nemecs, the website and instructions are below. If you don't know the Nemecs, there is no pressure to sign up, but for those that would like to bless this family in this way...here's the sign up!!!! If you have any questions, just email me.

Thanks!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's begin our (rather long!) list of prayers and praises this week with a prayer for the Buhner family. It looks as though the flu plague has invaded their home. Please pray that everyone will be doing better soon. I think Nash is out of school until at least Wednesday. Pray for better days and health for the Buhners. Hang in there, Shawn and Shelley!

Next, Dana and I would like for you to continue your prayers for Dana's grandmother, Maggie. She is going in for surgery on Tuesday morning following her broken arm late last week. Please pray that the surgery will go smoothly and that she will recover completely and quickly.

Nicki Sanchez would like for us to pray for Joe, her Mom's boyfriend. He has been battling skin cancer for some time. The praise is that he seems to be doing better, but let's pray that he will get better each day and only get good news regarding the cancer.

In addition, Nicki has asked that we pray for her mother. She is having surgery on her neck this week. Please pray that everything will go well and that she will regain complete use of her arm soon. Pray, also, for as little pain as possible.

We need to pray for Ben Sullivan and his work. Ben is quite worried about potential layoffs. Pray that everything will be okay with his job. Ben also hurt his back this past week. He is recovering, but needs our prayers that his back will get back to 100% soon.

Christina G. has a couple of prayers regarding her work at Baylor. First, she would like for us to pray that she will find a way to travel to an upcoming conference that would be good for her to attend. She also is now looking for another source of work since her Baylor job has run out. Pray that something will turn up soon. Finally, there is a job opportunity that has come up for Christina's boyfriend in Dallas. Pray that God will be with Tim as he consider this possibility of moving closer to Christina.

Last but certainly not least, we need to pray for Shannon Smith as she enters the last three months of her pregnancy. She is due June 14th. Since one of Shannon's previous pregnancies resulted in an early baby, Shannon needs our prayers that this baby will go to full-term and arrive completely healthy. We're praying for you, Shannon!

--------

I believe that covers our prayers and praises for this week. This morning, we moved on with a new study on "Decision-making" that I think will be a good follow-up to our study on "Perseverance". Next week, we will take a look at a lesson called "Advice: With a Little Help from Our Friends". If you want, to take a look at Exodus 18:13-27 before next Sunday.

For those of you who may be interested in buying the study, click here.

Have a great week, everyone. Oh, one more thing. Congratulations Lady Bears! Big XII Champions! Let's also say congratulations to the Men's team for a great tournament showing. Go Bears in the NIT and Lady Bears in the NCAA tournament!

See you next week, everyone.

God bless,

Wes and Dana

Any Volunteers to Teach the Fish Dish Class?

Friends:

Well, unfortunately, little Mr. Nash Buhner has come down with the flu. As a result, Shawn and Shelley (who may be carrying the bug as well) may need to stay home from teaching the Fish Dish class tomorrow morning. Is anyone out there interested in volunteering to cover for Shawn and Shelley? If so, please let me know ASAP. We would appreciate it.

In the mean time, please pray that Nash will get to feeling better soon.

Wes

Some Love (and Food) for the Nemecs?

Friends:

Please see the message below from Amy Nicholson. Thanks, Amy, for sending this along! Rumor has it that the Nulls may in fact break out of the mold and do something other than Bush's Chicken!

Let's also keep up our prayers for the Nemec family family and, especially, for young Bryce and Elizabeth.

Wes

Two Prayer Requests: Bella Bartram and Dana's Grandmother

Friends:

I hope all of you are having a good week. I'm writing with two matters that need our prayers. First of all, Bella Bartram (remember Bella?!) has had a second surgery on her arm to remove a birthmark. The surgery went well, but we need to pray that Bella's recovery will go well. We also need to pray for Pam's younger brother. He is recovering from a surgery and apparently is not doing well right now. Here's an email from Brian VanZee that explains a bit more.

Wes,

See the email below from Brian and Pam Bartram, some of the class may remember the Bartram’s and their daughter Bella from when they attended class. Anyway, Bella had a 2nd surgery on her hand to remove the birthmark that she had and evidently it went well but we need to pray for Bella’s recovery. In addition, we need to keep Pam’s younger brother, who is not doing so well following a recent surgery, in our prayers.

Thanks.

Brian

---------

Second, I would like for all of you to pray for Dana's grandmother, Maggie George. She fell earlier this week and broke her arm. She is currently in a cast until the swelling goes down. She will have surgery next Tuesday, which will be followed by another cast for about two months. Please pray that the surgery will go well and that her arm will heal quickly and completely.

Thanks, everyone, for your prayers for these fine people.

Prayers, News, Updates, and Greetings from the Alamo City!

Friends:

Good morning, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Happy Spring Break! Us Nulls are currently in San Antonio. Greetings from the Alamo City!

First, let's thank the VanZees for bringing our donuts this morning. We appreciate you, Brian and Jill! Next week, Ben and Nicki Sanchez are in charge. We hope you get to feeling better, Nicki!

LAURA EDWARDS HOUSE

Several people in class today mentioned that the Laura Edwards house might be a great way for us to get involved in some more community service. Sounds great to me. I have written to Linda Hammond to find out more information. I will let you know what I learn!

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's pray for everyone who is traveling this week. The Hookhams are headed to Dallas, the Hudsons are headed to Colorado, the Buhners are off to Dallas, and us Nulls are in San Antonio. Those are the travelers I know about! Please pray for safe travel for everyone.

Nicki Sanchez is under the weather with a sinus infection. Please pray that she will feel better soon.

Happy Birthday Carter Rogers! The young man turned 7 this week. We heard a rumor that his party was 'da bomb. Let's pray that Carter has another great year ahead!

Beth R. has asked that we pray for everyone who is mourning the recent tragic deaths at Texas A&M. These have been difficult times for the university. Please pray for comfort and healing for everyone.

How about we keep up our prayers for the Coltrain family? They are continuing to work to sell their home. Please spread the word that there is a great home for sell for anyone you know who is looking! Pray for patience, faith, and understanding for the Coltrains. I think God just wants Leslie to keep up the beautiful singing for us every week! : )

Amy Nicholson's brother is headed to Romania this week on a mission trip with a group of kids. Please pray for their safe travel and successful mission work.

Let's keep up our prayers for the many people in our country who are struggling during these difficult economic times. Pray for wisdom and guidance for those who are making decisions to help things get better.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to say a praise for March 11th. My beautiful wife and I will celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary this Wednesday (at roughly 3:30 p.m., if I remember correctly). Praise God for an absolutely terrific 14 years for the Null duo! We plan to celebrate with sippy cups, Diego, and a trip to Chuck E. Cheese. Praise God for giving me the best wife and mother in the world! (No offense to you other wonderful wives and mothers out there, but I'm convinced I have the best!).

---------

I think that does it, folks. We're off to hunt Shamu. May all of you have a great week. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning. No slacking at the end of spring break!

God bless,

Wes and Dana

Is it Really March?!, and Other News-Prayers

Friends:

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed the great weather this afternoon. Yes, it was a bit chilly, but, overall, it was quite nice. I even managed to get some fertilizer on the grass!

Let's start today by saying some thanks. Thanks, first, to Steve and Jennifer for bringing our snacks today. Appreciate it, Mays! Next week, Brian and Jill VanZee are in charge. Thanks, VanZees!

We also need to say thanks to the Buhners for bringing some beverages for our fancy new fridge today. We appreciate it, Buhners. Let's also thank the Buhners for teaching in the Fish Disk class this morning. Thanks for representin' us, Buhners! We didn't hear any screaming or see any blood, so things must have gone just fine . . . . : )

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let's get to our prayers and praises. First off, let's pray for Ben Sullivan's safety. He is back in the oil patch and won't be back for about another 10 days. Pray for safety for Ben. Pray, also, that everything will be okay with Ben's job given the layoffs that are prevalent these days.

How about a big praise for Benjamin May! Benjamin has had some great luck with his quite creative science fair project. He did very well in several science fairs, including the regional science fair where he won a $125.00 award. Praise God for Benjamin's great science work! Ask God to continue to be with Benjamin as he develops his many talents (derived directly from Jennifer's genes, of course).

We need to pray for Steve May's uncle, Norman, and his wife Dorothy. They have been doing mission work on an Indian reservation in South Dakota for about forty years. They are nearing retirement and need someone to catch their vision and continue the ministry in the years ahead. Please ask God to be with Norman and Dorothy and their very important work. Ask God to bless them with just the right people to keep the work alive.

Let's say a prayer for all of the parents and teachers who will be involved in the TAKS test on Tuesday.

Christina G. would like for us to pray for her friend Jeff and his fiance. Jeff is going through some job changes right now just prior to the wedding. Ask that God will bless this young couple, their marriage, and everything that follows.

On the marriage front, how about a big praise and a prayer for Salley and Chris! Yep, that's right. They tied the knot last night. Everything went great. They are now the Schmids. Let's ask God to be with Salley, Chris, and their kids as they begin their new life together. We're praying for you, Salley and Chris! We expect you guys to come back and visit our class as an official couple! We'll be watching for you!

Vince E. would like for us to pray for everyone in the TV business right now. The economic situation is hitting everyone quite hard. Vince also would like for us to pray for he and several of his friends as they begin a Christian outreach effort within the TV industry. Pray that God will bless this effort and help things to flourish during a difficult time.

Elizabeth Nemec is 38 weeks along! Let's all be sure and pray for a smooth, successful delivery for Elizabeth. Pray for 100% health for the baby and for Elizabeth. We're praying for you, Elizabeth! You're almost there!

Dana would like for us to pray for the new "Life Church" plant that we are beginning in Waco. Praise God for Gabe Dominguez! Gabe will be leading this very important effort. Let's pray that God will send many people to this new worship service. This sounds like a very exciting opportunity for our church. Please ask God to bless it.

Jennifer May would like for us to pray for little Jaret. He is doing great at school, but he does suffer from a bit of anxiety. Please pray that Jaret will learn to slay this monster and have a great week and many more great weeks after that.

Last but certainly not least, my lovely wife seems to have come down with some kind of cough/upper respiratory problem. She's managed to avoid several dozen plagues that have made it through the Null home in recent weeks, but this one finally attached itself to her. Please pray that Dana will feel better soon.

----------

I think that's all, everyone. Next Sunday, we'll take a look at Psalm 124 and a lesson on "Help" in our series on "Perseverance". Dana and I hope you have a great week. For many of us, we get spring break after this one!

We look forward to seeing all of you next Sunday morning.

God bless,

Wes and Dana
