Class Update--August 26, 2007

Friends:

Good evening, all! Well, I suspect that most of you are as exhausted as we are at the Null home. Let’s say a big thank you once again to the Buhners for opening their home to us for the Cookout. We certainly appreciate it, Shawn and Shelley! I plan to send a separate message (and do a separate post on the blog) for the Cookout, so more on that in a minute.

I want say a big welcome to Greg Hudson and Ben Sanchez. They both visited our class this morning (but they weren’t together). Great to have you guys, Greg and Ben! I hope you will come back and see us again next Sunday. Greg, be sure and bring Courtney with you next week!

Next, let’s go ahead and jump to our prayers and praises.

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let’s continue to pray for Sean and Cece Lively, and especially for Callie and Cammie. This has been a very difficult week for all of them. Please pray for comfort for Sean and Cece and for safety and stability for Callie and Cammie. We are praying for you guys, Sean and Cece.

I would like for everyone to pray for Rhonda Glanzer. She spent four days in the hospital this week after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Rhonda will need quite some time to recuperate. She begins physical therapy tomorrow. Perry is a good friend of mine who is also on the faculty in Baylor’s School of Education. The Glanzers have two young boys at home. Please pray for their entire family and for Rhonda as she goes through a difficult time of recovery. Click here for more on Rhonda.

Vince E. has asked us to continue to pray for his friends Cole and Iva. They did have some good news that they will have the two kids at least until January. Please pray for a good decision by the judge in January.

Jenny LaSeur has asked us to continue to pray for her cousin. Jenny brought good news that her cousin’s days have been a bit better lately, but she still needs lots of prayers. We’re praying, Jenny!

Praise God for Alexis Hookham! She turns two tomorrow. Unbelievable.

Let’s all pray for Mark and Sarah Welshimer. Mark’s last day was today. Please pray for the Welshimer family as they relocate to Houston. Mark will be an Associate Pastor at First Methodist-Houston.

On that note, we need to pray for our church as we search for Mark’s replacement. This is a big week at the church for making plans about the kind of person we want to hire. Please pray for everyone who is working to find the right person. Ask for God’s involvement in helping lead a talented person to First Methodist-Waco.

Elizabeth Nemec has asked that we pray for one of her friends, Emily Pauley. Emily has been in the hospital this week. Please ask God to help Emily get home and back to full health soon.

We need to pray for all of the students, teachers, and parents as we begin another school year this week. Several of the kids connected with our class begin Kindergarten either tomorrow or Tuesday. Please ask God to be with these youngsters and their teachers during this all-important first week of school!

We need to pray for Jennifer May in particular. She lost her aid this past week. Yep, that’s right; Jennifer lost her aid the week before school! Please pray that Jennifer will have a good week with her four year olds.

Vince E. brought a praise this morning that, after many many hours of work, his Wednesday night show is done and ready to go. Praise God for all of your hard work, Vince! I am not afraid to make a plug for you and your show. I know how much pride you have in your work. If you folks out there have time and you’re interested in football, I encourage you take a look at Vince’s show this Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. on Channel 25 (the real channel for us here in Hewitt is Channel 5, which means ABC). Click here for more!

We also need to continue to pray for everyone who is hurting in Peru. Please ask God to be with the Peruvians as they work to recover. Praise God for all of the work that our church has been doing! I don’t know about you, but I was very proud to read the article in this morning’s Waco Tribune-Herald. Click here if you missed it:

From our class, I know that Brian Nicholson will be headed to Peru with Wayne in about a week and a half. We are praying for you guys, Wayne and Brian. I know I speak for all of us when I say we are proud of your efforts!

Last but not least, Ben Sullivan has asked us to pray for his family. Ben’s great-uncle passed away this past week. His passing has caused a number of family disagreements to come out into the open. Please pray for healing for Ben’s family.

--------

I think that covers our prayers and praises for this Sunday. In a few minutes, I plan to post a few photos from our Cookout. Dana and I hope that all of you have a great week. I can’t believe our little girl begins Kindergarten on Tuesday!

We look forward to seeing all of you next Sunday.

God bless,

Wes and Dana
