Updates, Prayers, and Bulls

Dear Friends:

Good evening! Well, the good news is that tomorrow isn’t truly Monday. Let’s enjoy a three day weekend, why don’t we! First off, I want to say how pleased we were to welcome Ashlee and David McCrary to our class this morning. We enjoyed having you, Ashlee and David, and we hope to see you again next week! We also were delighted to have the other half of the Hudson duo with us today. Welcome to our class, Courtney!

Next up, let’s thank Robbie and Franci for bringing our donuts today. We appreciate it, folks! Us Nulls are in charge next week.

PRAYERS AND PRAISES

Let’s jump right into our prayers and praises.

We need to say a special prayer for the team that will be leaving for Peru on Friday. Please pray for safety and for God’s grace as this team travels to do some very important work. Pray that they will have a successful trip and will minister to as many people as possible. From our class, Brian Nicholson will be going. Please lift up Brian and the rest of the team with your prayers throughout this week and next. We’re proud of you, Brian! And we will be praying each and every day. By the way, our church, in just about two weeks, raised $80,000 for this effort. God bless our church!

Dana has asked that we pray for her friend Gloria Dulany. Gloria’s husband passed away suddenly earlier this week. The funeral is tomorrow. Please pray for comfort and healing for Gloria and her family.

Steve May has a big birthday on Tuesday of this week. I’ll let you folks ask him how many. Let’s thank God for many great years for Steve! By the way, Steve, Sean Goolsby requested that I send you this link.

Teresa Sullivan has asked that we pray for her husband Ben. Ben continues to work on a drilling rig about 2 hours from here. Pray that Ben will have safe days at work. He had an accident earlier this week, but is doing okay. Please pray for safe work for Ben and for a safe trip home soon.

Let’s continue to pray for Sean and Cece. We’re praying for you guys!

The Bartrams continue to do just fine with little Bella. Please continue to pray for them during these important first few months of Bella’s life.

Stefany and Sean Goolsby will be heading to Chicago later this week. Please pray that they will have an enjoyable trip and that they will travel to Chicago and home safely.

Melody Libby continues to deal with her eye infection. Please pray that the medicine she has will help her to improve each day and get back to full health soon. We're praying for you, Melody!

Franci Rogers is going through a bit of job transition these days. Please pray for Franci as she and Robbie decide what is best for her and their family. Pray that Franci will find the kind of work that will allow her to use her talents and serve others in the kind of environment that she is looking for.

Jen Burney also is going through a bit of transition at work. Please pray that Jen will also find the kind of position that fits with her background and that provides her with the kind of hours that she is looking for.

Also on the Burney front, Brad is looking for a good manager to take over an important role at his work. Please pray that Brad will find the kind of person that he needs.

Last but not least, let’s also continue to pray for our church as we look for a new Associate Pastor to work with our youth. All of you know how important this decision is. Please pray that we will have a strong pool of candidates, and that we will find the kind of enthusiastic, gifted person that our young people (and this church as a whole!) deserve. Thank you for continued prayers on this important task.

---------

I think that covers our prayers and praises for this Sunday evening.

IMPORTANT NOTE!

Be sure to vote in the poll that you see to the left of this message! For those of you who may not know, our class is in charge of the mechanical bull at the upcoming Block Party (yep, that’s right; we’re in charge of the bull). I want some video of Robbie Rogers on that bull! If we do get such video (can you help us out here, Hookham?), I will figure out a way to upload it to YouTube and post a link on this here blog. Video of Robbie on the bull would draw some serious attention!

Dana and I hope that all of you have a great Labor Day and an enjoyable week ahead. We look forward to seeing all of you again next Sunday morning.

God bless,

Wes and Dana
