I have uploaded our lesson for Sunday. See below.
Thanks for finding some time to read the selections from Proverbs and work through the attached questions for Sunday.
See you then,
Wes

Praise God for Clouds, Showers, and other Class Bid-ness
Good afternoon, all! Hallelujah for some cooler weather. Now where's all this rain they've been promising?!
We have lots going on, so let's get to it.
CO-ED SHOWER FOR THE ERICKSONS NEXT SUNDAY!!!
First off, the Erickson shower will take place next Sunday, the 24th, from 3-5 p.m. at the VanZee home. Jill has been working on an announcement that includes more details. I should have it to you tomorrow. Thank you for putting this important event on your calendars! Let's be sure to bless the Ericksons as they begin a very important new chapter in their lives.
OTHER PRAYERS AND PRAISES
Next up, Jennifer May has been working very hard on a steering committee that is helping with the transition as Sandy Williams steps down as children's minister. Thank you for your very important service, Jennifer! We appreciate it! Jennifer brought the following information to class this morning. There are many opportunities for us to volunteer to help with the children's ministry. Please take a look at this list and consider how you might be able to serve. Contact Jennifer at smay@hot.rr.com if you would like to volunteer.
Children's Ministry Needs:
*Sunday school teacher at 10:50 for 2 year olds
*Sunday school teacher at 10:50 for kindergarten
*2 Sunday school teachers upstairs at 10:50
*shepherd at 9:30 for 5th grade (year long commitment)
*shepherd at 9:30 and 10:50 for 3rd grade (year long commitment)
*supply coordinator for son stadium and creation station
*2 teachers for preschool midweek
*Help with Christmas Camp (Dec 6 or 13)
*Help with Christmas Eve service: food for actors, dancing angels, and 3rd grade nativity
----
Please pray for safe travel for all of the following people: Hookhams (Sea World), VanZees (Dallas), Hudsons (Bastrop), and the Mays (to visit Jennifer's Mom).
On the VanZee front, they have an important trip to Dallas on Wednesday to finalize everything with Raelynn's adoption. Raelynn will officially be a VanZee by Wednesday afternoon! Please pray that God will bless the VanZee family on this very special day.
We also need to continue to pray for Raelynn's ears. She goes back to see her pediatrician again tomorrow. It looks as though Raelynn is headed for ear tube surgery. Please pray that God will be with the VanZees as they move toward this surgery.
We need to pray for the teachers and students who will begin school during the next week or two. Pray that the school year will get off to a great start. Pray, also, for all of the students who are traveling back to Baylor and Waco.
Well, it looks as though Mr. Corbin is headed back to get surgery on his other thumb, the right one this time. The right thumb appears to have the same problem that his left thumb had a few months ago. Please pray for him and for us as we prepare for the surgery. I guess the only good news is that after this surgery, he's out of thumbs!
Brian VanZee's mother had knee replacement surgery last week. Everything went well, but we need to pray for her complete and speedy recovery. She will need another surgery to replace the other knee in a few months, so please pray for that as well.
Mary Erickson has asked that we continue to pray for her friend Jen. She's the one who had the complications following her amniocentesis. She and the baby appear to be doing a bit better, but Jen is on bed rest for several months until the baby comes to full term. Please pray for health for Jen and the baby, and for patience and strength for Jen and her family.
We need to pray for little Severus Sanchez. He did great in our class this morning! He has been having some trouble with his stomach. He has trouble digesting and passing food. Please pray for better health and better days for Severus.
Jennifer May's mother turns 60 today. Please pray for a great day for her! The Mays are headed to visit her this afternoon. Benjamin and Jaret will be staying with Jennifer's mom for a few days, so Jennifer has asked us to pray for Zach on the way home. He may have trouble adjusting to life without his brothers at home!
-----------
I think that covers our class matters for this afternoon. Us Nulls did the donuts this morning, and the Mays are in charge next week. Thanks, Mays!
As for next week, I should be able to have our lesson done by Thursday or Friday, which will give everyone more time to complete the reading. I think the Hybels studies will be good for us!
Have a great week, everyone. See you next Sunday.

Good Evening!, Wisdom for Tomorrow . . .
Friends:
Well, my goal was to get this to you earlier, but, alas, with Commencement, cutting the grass, a Yearbook Party at Raegan's school, and bath time, it's been a full day!
When visiting the book store this evening, I found some good Bible studies by Bill Hybels. I'd like for us to start one on Wisdom that is based on the book of Proverbs. I've seen quite a few Bible studies that I don't particularly like, but this one seems to take the right approach, at least as far as I am concerned.
You can find our lesson for tomorrow at the bottom right in the "Lesson Links" box. See "Wisdom of Proverbs Week 1". Also, if you have time, please take a look at Proverbs 2:1-15 for tomorrow. For the most ambitious out there, try to answer a few of the questions that I have included in the lesson. We'll discuss them tomorrow.
Dana and I look forward to seeing you in the morning!

Six Flags Pics, Prayers, News, and Lots of Other Stuff
For those of you who were wondering, this is what Six Flags looks like in 107 degree weather. I'm the guy behind the camera holding the multiple gallons of water and other essential medical supplies. Not for the faint of heart! Nevertheless, we had a great time. Hurricane Harbor, the next day, was even a bit better for our little ones, and not to mention a bit cooler!
The third pic is for Steve May, of course.
This morning, we were pleased to welcome Rod and Shannon Smith as guests to our class. We enjoyed having you, Rod and Shannon! I hope you will come back and see us again next week.
We also need to thank the Nicholsons, who are now proud owners of a minivan, for bringing our snacks today. Thanks for coming through Nicholsons. You guys look great in the minivan! Brian claims to be having a mid-life crisis over the matter, but he looks fine to me. Brian, Jeff Hookham has been through several of these crises, so, if you need help, see him.
PRAYERS AND PRAISES
As usual, we have numerous prayers and praises this week. First off, Jill VanZee is traveling once again this weekend. From what I hear, Jill's grandmother passed away this week. VanZees, you guys can't catch a break! Please pray for Jill as she travels and for Jill's family during this time of mourning. We also need to continue to pray for Raelynn and her ear infections. Hang in there, VanZees!
Let's continue to pray for our expectant mommies: Mary E., Amy N., and Elizabeth N.
I know that several people from our class are traveling this week, but the only ones I know about for sure are the Hudsons. Please pray for everyone who is traveling.
Vince has asked that we pray for his friends Cole and Iva and their son Trey. Trey will be having brain surgery soon. Pray that everything will be successful and that Trey will recover quickly and completely.
Ben Sullivan is headed back to work tomorrow. Pray for his safe travel and for his safety at work.
Teresa would like for us to pray for her brother, Brian. He is going through a divorce. Please pray for better days and good decision-making for Brian.
Mary E. has asked that we pray for her friend, Jen. Jen had an amniocentesis that didn't go very well. She is now on bed rest at 16 weeks of pregancy. Please pray for health for Jen and the baby.
Mary also would like for us to pray for Tara Hodges and everything surrounding that situation. Please pray that the truth will come out and that God will be with Tara and the young man who is involved.
----------
I believe that covers our prayers, praises, and news for today. I am currently looking for a new book for our class, which I hope to beigin next week. I welcome any suggestions!
Dana and I look forward to seeing you next Sunday. Have a great week.

What do Wikipedia and the Future of the Church have in Common?
Good afternoon, all! I have uploaded our lesson for tomorow (see "Lesson Links" at the bottom right). Anyone heard of Wikipedia? I've put together some points that Tony Jones makes about the relationship between Wikipedia and the future of the church. I think he makes some very interesting comparisons. If you have time, take a look at these selected verses before tomorrow:
Trust and The Story of the Prodigal Son: Luke 15:11-32.
Mutual Accountability and Christ’s message to his disciples: Matthew 10:1-42.
Connectivity and the Last Supper: John 13:1-30.
Dana and I look forward to seeing you in the morning. We've missed seeing lots of you this summer!
